The Buddha statue, which is located in the heart of the Japanese city of Chuchura in the Ibaraki province, is a unique architectural structure. It is the tallest Buddha monument in the entire world.
The height of the Buddha statue in Chuchur is amazing. It reaches a height of 120 meters, excluding the platform. The statue was erected at the end of 1995.
Individual parts of the statue are striking in their size. So, one finger of the Buddha is seven meters long, but the mouth is four meters wide. This statue is one of the most popular Buddha monuments in the world.
The Buddha statue was built by various famous architects of Japan in the 20th century. The construction of the platform caused the most problems, since the land was seriously sinking in the selected location. A lot of concrete was wasted. Parts of the monument were made in different countries of Japan. For example, the hand was produced in China.
The construction of the statue began during the reign of Emperor Seva, but in 1989 Akihito took over power, during which no construction work was carried out for one year (due to the reforms of the new ruler). But in 5 years, the statue was assembled and erected. It was opened by the ruler Akihito himself, accompanied by the heads of all major Japanese cities.
At the opening of the statue, residents saw a grand fireworks display, after which all people began to pray to Buddha. Currently, work is planned for the complete reconstruction of the statue. As a result, it will be painted gold and decorated with bright details, which will be added by various Japanese artists.
