It is very difficult to cover all possible unusual places on the planet. After all, almost every country has its own unique corners that are interesting for travelers. However, some places are worth seeing at least once.
Unique experiments of nature
Most of the unusual places on the planet are created by nature. These corners are inimitable and unique, therefore a considerable number of travelers spend energy and money to visit them.
The contrast between the pink lake and the white coast seems phantasmagoric. This unusual combination can be seen in Senegal. Lake Retba has a bright pink matte color. Nothing is reflected in the water, and it is also impossible to see the bottom. This phenomenon is due to the bacteria Dunaliella salina, which produce red pigments to absorb the sun's rays.
But in Bolivia, on the contrary, a semi-dried salt lake is famous for its unique reflective properties. Looking at the surface for a long time can easily get confused as to which side of the sky is. This place is gradually becoming more and more popular, but not only because of the mirror properties. Salar de Uyuni has the largest salt accumulation in the world. Recently, hotels have begun to be built from it.
You can get acquainted with the Gates of Hell in Turkmenistan. This place was discovered by scientists from Russia in the 70s of the 20th century, when a gas accumulation was discovered underground and it was decided to drill a well. However, at the very first actions, the ground under the workers and equipment collapsed, forming a crater 20 meters deep. It was not possible to use the gas for the good of the country, but it was dangerous for the environment. They set it on fire, hoping that everything would burn out in a day at most. For more than forty years, the ignited gas has been burning in a crater with a diameter of 60 meters.
Recently, there has been one more unusual place in the world. In 2012, the crater of the dormant Trinukagigur volcano was opened to the public in Iceland. This is the only place on the planet where you can "get acquainted" with the magma chamber by descending to a depth of 150 meters.
An amazing example of balance can be seen in Burma on Mount Chaittiyo. At the very edge of the cliff, there is a huge gold stone that has not fallen for about 900 years. Buddhists believe that this phenomenon is a challenge to all the laws of physics and gravity, because a block can even be shaken. At the top of the stone, the monks set up a pagoda.
If you look at Australia from a bird's eye view, it seems that with the help of nature, the continent is actively confessing its love. In the region of New Caledonia, there is a place where water practically does not flow. As a result, a heart-shaped land gaping sandy among the green of the mangrove forests. The second "Australian heart" is located in the ocean not far from the mainland.
Man made
Man did not stand aside and for several centuries, in cooperation with nature, has created unusual places worth visiting. A hotel in the Maldives deserves the attention of travelers. He, as well as the restaurant, are located under water. Dinner and overnight stay among the multitude of marine life will give you a lot of impressions.
Two other original hotels are located in Scandinavian countries. A whole complex of igloo rooms has been built in Finnish Lapland. They have an original circular shape and a fully open glass roof, allowing you to admire the Northern Lights. Swedish originals created the hotel in a mine underground. To relax and have a snack, guests need to overcome the slope of 156 meters.
Also worth visiting is the New Wonder of the World - the city of Machu Picchu. The "lost" place was once erected by human hands in Peru on a mountain peak 2450 m high. Another fantastic city is located in Jordan. Carved into the rock by a man, the unique Petra is famous for 4000 years of history and is recognized as the most famous historical monument in the country.
