To return a ticket, you need to present it to one of the long-distance ticket offices of the company or to a special ticket office dealing with the return. These cash desks are located mainly at railway stations.

Step 2

To apply, the passenger will need to present along with the ticket the document, the data from which was used when placing the order, namely, a birth certificate or a passport. Among other things, the cashier will need the order number for which the ticket was printed, as well as the control coupon.

You can also return an e-ticket using the official portal of Russian Railways, but there are several conditions here. Firstly, if the ticket has been printed, it is no longer possible to return it using the website. Secondly, if the return is carried out using the website, all passengers indicated in the order form are automatically considered informed that they have canceled the trip.

Step 4

You can refuse to travel and return an electronic ticket no later than eight to ten hours before the train departure, if the passenger travels through the territory of the Russian Federation, then he will be able to get back the money spent on the reserved seat and the ticket. If the ticket is returned 2 hours before the train departure, the passenger will be refunded only the money spent on purchasing the ticket, the reserved seat will not be returned.

Step 5

If a passenger intends to return a ticket for an international train, he will have to return a travel document no later than a day before departure, only then he will receive back the full fare. It can be returned even 6 hours before departure, but then the passenger will only receive back the amount equivalent to the fare.

In any case, upon returning an electronic travel document that has not been used for its intended purpose, the full amount will not be refunded. Russian Railways charges a fee of 155 rubles 50 kopecks, this rule was determined by the FTS of the Russian Federation.
