Rome and Florence are some of the most interesting, beautiful and attractive Italian cities. There are many cultural, architectural, historical and gastronomic attractions in both points. The close location of cities allows you to get from Rome to Florence, spending only 1, 5 hours on the road.
From Rome to Florence: Railroad
The train is the fastest and most convenient land route from Rome to Florence. This path starts at the Termini station in the capital. The final point of the journey is St. Maria-Novella is the central train station in Florence. Trains run between cities with short breaks throughout the day. The Rome-Florence interval covers about 60 trains per day.
The travel time by rail will depend on the type of train chosen. The expressway (Frecciarossa / Frecciargento) will reach Florence in about 1.5 hours. The train travels all the way without stopping, however, the cost of travel on it is higher than on the other two. For convenience and speed in one direction, you will have to spend up to € 50.
The journey from Rome to Florence by Intercity train takes about three hours. Time increases due to rare short stops. The average fare is € 33 (one way).
It will take four hours (sometimes a little more) from Rome to Florence on a regular regional train. Without stopping, he does not pass a single station. However, this train will allow you to save a lot, since a one-way trip will cost about € 21.
Please note: if you know in advance the exact dates of your trip, you can buy tickets at a profit (for example, via the Internet). 2 months before the trip, their cost will be almost half. However, tickets purchased at a reduced price cannot be exchanged or returned.
From Rome to Florence: motorway
It is not difficult to get from Rome to Florence by bus. The advantages of such a trip are amazing landscapes outside the window, stops in small towns, low cost (from € 15 for an adult ticket). The main disadvantage is duration.
Bus service from Rome to Florence is provided by private companies. The most popular are Baltour (Eurolines, Sena), Leonettibus, Mavibus. Buses of all companies start from Rome at the Tiburtina bus station and arrive at the Florence bus station located next to the train station.
Most often, Baltour buses leave from Rome to Florence: 3 trips per day. In the shortest time - 3 hours 50 minutes - gets overnight. The rest of the buses travel a little over four hours.
The Mavibus will be delivered to Florence from Rome in just 3.5 hours. However, when purchasing a ticket, carefully look at the drop-off point. Some buses do not enter Florence, but drop off passengers on the motorway, from which you need to get to the city by regular bus (no. 37).
You can also use the motorway from Rome to Florence by renting a car in the capital. This method is the most expensive. In addition to renting, gasoline, parking, you will have to splurge on the road: all Italian autobahns are paid (it will come out somewhere plus € 15-20). The distance from city to city can be covered in a little more than three hours (290 km).
