Salekhard is one of the northernmost Russian cities and the only city in the world located on the Arctic Circle. It is the administrative center of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. There are regular transport links between Salekhard and other major cities, and there are several ways to get here.

Since Salekhard is located in the Arctic Circle, getting to it is still quite problematic. People usually get to Salekhard from the nearest town with the poetic name Labytnangi ("Seven Larches"), which is located 16 km away. There is a large river port in Salekhard, and the most popular way until recently was the ferry. However, in October 2013, the ferry service closed. From now on, it will be possible to get to Salekhard from Labytnanga by helicopter.

In winter, you can cross from Labytnanga to Salekhard by land transport along the so-called winter road. This is the name of a motorway that runs along the frozen ice of rivers and lakes. Winter roads are inconvenient and rather dangerous, so now, when it is possible to get to the city by helicopter, it is better to prefer a flight.

As you can see, the first thing that most of those who want to get to Salekhard need to find out is how to get to Labytnangi. From wherever in the country you are traveling, you will most likely have to stop there, since most of the routes run through this tiny town. Labytnangi has a direct connection with Salekhard, Moscow and Vorkuta. At the service of the residents of the capital, the company train "Polar Arrow" No. 21/22. Travel time is 46 hours 40 minutes. The train runs every Tuesday and Friday.
Step 4
The easiest way to fly to Salekhard is by plane, but this method is the least economical. The minimum cost of a flight ticket is 11,765 rubles. But the road will take only three hours. Please note that the Salekhard airport is actually located seven kilometers north of the city. Upon arrival at the airport, you will need to order a taxi.
Step 5
Fans of extreme sports and travel can get to Salekhard in a personal car. The distance from Moscow to the destination is almost 3000 km. If you drive non-stop at an average speed of 90 km / h, it will take you 33 hours to get there.
