Step 1
To obtain a visa, apply to the Russian consulate of the country in which you currently reside, even if you are not a citizen of it.

In accordance with the purpose of your visit to the Russian Federation and how many times you plan to cross the border, order the visa you need. They are of several types: a tourist visa - for those who come to the country for the purpose of recreation, a business visa - obtained by those who go on a business trip or for negotiations, a transit visa - issued if you pass through the country, heading to another state. Also, a visa can be multiple, double or single, depending on how many times you will enter Russia.
Step 3
Receive an invitation to the country. It is issued by a travel company if you go to Russia on a tour, a company that invites you as a specialist, friends or relatives through the FMS, if you are just going to visit. If you want to receive a transit document, you will need to present a copy of the ticket and the visa of the country that is the purpose of your trip.
Step 4
Collect the package of documents necessary for obtaining a visa, which includes: a passport or a copy of it, 3 or 4 passport-size photographs, a self-addressed envelope, a completed application form and a receipt confirming the payment of the consular fee. In some cases, insurance may also be required from you.
Step 5
Submit the documents to the consulate and wait for your paperwork to be processed from two to four days.

Upon arrival in Russia, register your visa within the first 72 hours (three working days), otherwise you face a fine of up to $ 50, and there may also be difficulties when leaving the country. Registration is carried out by the inviting company, the hotel in which you are staying or the owner of a private apartment, if you have settled there. Also, upon arriving in Russia, a foreigner must necessarily draw up a migration card, in which a note is made about the registration of a visa.
