Submission of documents for a visa to the United States has a number of peculiarities: in order to get the coveted sticker in your passport, you must go through an interview at the consulate. Usually, the decision is made immediately after this conversation, and you can pick up your passport only after a few days. For those who have already received a visa to the United States, sometimes you can do without an interview. In general, the procedure for obtaining a visa is as follows.
Instructions
Step 1
Complete the US visa application form at ceac.state.gov/genniv. Filling out the questionnaire is possible only online, via the Internet. For a tourist visa, you need to choose an application form according to the DS160 form. Calculate in advance in which visa center you are going to apply, you will need to indicate this. It will no longer be possible to change this data. After that, you will receive a file with a code in which your data is encrypted. Print it out.
Step 2
Pay the visa fee. Until you do this, you will not be able to schedule an interview. You can pay both online with a card, and through a regular bank transfer on a receipt, but only at a VTB-24 bank branch. After payment, the receipt will need to be shown along with all documents. After that, you can apply to the consulate for a visa within one year. It is not possible to return the fee or transfer it to another person to pay for his visa.
Step 3
Then sign up for an interview at ustraveldocs.com/ru. Before that, you will need to register. Enter your email address as your login. The name and surname in the personal data must be entered exactly as in the passport. The password is not regulated, but it must be at least eight characters, among which there must be numbers and letters. As soon as you enter your personal account on the site, select the item in the schedule appointment menu, this is an appointment for an interview.
Step 4
Choose what type of visa you need (you need to choose "not for immigration") and where you are applying. In Russia, there are US visa centers in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok and Yekaterinburg. Depending on the purpose of your trip, choose a visa category. The site will contain descriptions of all categories with detailed explanations. Enter all the personal information that is required. When you are done, you will see a calendar with free dates on which you can come for an interview.
Step 5
Take the following papers with you to the visa center: passport, passport, paid receipt of visa fee, printed form, sheet with barcode, as well as all accompanying documents, which usually include hotel reservations, invitations, certificates from work and from the bank, insurance, certificate of marriage or certificates of ownership of real estate.
Step 6
Show up at the right time at the consulate. Be calm during the interview. Do not deceive the visa officer, try not to be nervous: unnecessary worries or worries usually put him on guard, so he may start asking you additional questions.
Step 7
After the interview is over, you will most likely be told immediately whether you will receive a visa or not. If this did not happen, then you can track the status of your application in your personal account, where you chose the date of the interview.
