Step 1
South America is not yet a popular tourist destination for Russian citizens. This is due primarily to expensive flights across the ocean, with the lack of sufficient comfortable conditions for tourists in most countries. And, of course, a small amount of information about this beautiful continent. Meanwhile, most of the countries of South America have an agreement with Russia on a visa-free regime, which greatly simplifies visits to a number of states. This article will describe several of them based on personal experience.
Step 2
Venezuela. The visa is put at the airport upon arrival in Caracas. Russians are allowed to stay in this country up to 90 days a year. And, although this figure is spelled out in all customs documents, there is no punishment for non-compliance. In most cases, Russians are released from the country without any problems, even if the period of stay is very much exceeded. But here it is worth remembering some pitfalls. First, the airport tax may not be included in the ticket price. Therefore, it is good to have in stock the local currency (bolivars) for 50-100 dollars to pay for it. If you leave the country by bus, it will cost $ 10 per person.
Step 3
Colombia. According to the law, the period of stay is the same as in Venezuela and is equal to 90 days. But sometimes customs officers show willfulness, and they themselves decide for how long it is possible to let this or that person into the country. It can be either 30 days or 60. There are no problems, however, if you will not leave after 90 days, you can easily explain everything at the customs. Departure from the country is free. But even here you shouldn't yawn. If you travel by bus, you can even go through customs control without receiving a mark of closure, the border guards do not particularly care about the correctness of the paperwork.
Step 4
Ecuador. Entry into the country for Russian citizens is allowed for a period of 90 days, no payment is required when crossing the border. The visa itself is also placed when passing through customs.
Step 5
Peru. All the same 90 days for Russian citizens. But here everything is stricter. For each day the visa is overdue, a fine of $ 1 per day is imposed. It is imperative to keep all the pieces of paper that are given when entering the country, since they are required to be returned when leaving. If they are not there, then another fine is $ 4 per piece of paper. And the most interesting thing is that it is better to pay in dollars, because the rate of local salt against the US currency at customs is extortionate, two times lower than the real one.
