Step 1
Collect the required package of documents. Take care of proof of financial security for the trip. You can provide a salary certificate certified by the seal of your company, a sponsorship letter or a fresh statement from your bank account.
Step 2
Contact the German Consulate or the German Visa Application Center in your area. This is the fastest way to get a visa. There are consulates of this country not only in Moscow and St. Petersburg, but also in Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg or Kaliningrad. If you live in or near one of these cities, find out the address of your visa application center using the directory of organizations or the official website of the German Consulate General in Russia. You can submit documents on a first come, first served basis, or make an appointment in advance for a specific date so as not to waste time waiting.
Step 3
Submit two completed and signed forms, samples of which can be obtained from the consulate. Attach all the necessary documents to them and pay the consular fee. When applying for a tourist visa at the consulate, pay an additional fee for urgency. In this case, a Schengen visa can be issued in two to three days.
Step 4
For most long-term visas, the consulate does not provide an expedited procedure for processing documents. An exception may be extreme circumstances that need to be documented. Such situations include, for example, a serious illness or death of a close relative in Germany or other similar situations. Then the consular staff can take your situation into account.
Step 5
If you live far from designated visa centers, contact a travel agency that provides visa services. In this case, you will pay more than when receiving documents directly at the consulate. You will also need to issue a power of attorney, according to which another person will submit documents for you. Be careful when obtaining a long-term visa in this way. Call the consulate and ask if your personal presence is required.
