Kenya fascinates with its natural beauty - seas, rivers, lakes, mountains and deserts. The most important Kenyan attraction is dozens of national parks and various reserves, where you can see representatives of African fauna and flora in all their glory and literally from arm's length.
The largest park not only in Africa but also in the world is Tsavo Park. The boundaries of the park are symbolic and marked by bizarre flows of once frozen lava. The park is located between Mombasa and Nairobi and is divided by the railway into two parts - west and east. The park's landscapes are unique in that they combine highlands, plains and rocky mountains. Complementing the splendor of the lake with crystal clear water. Among the ancient baobabs, trees resembling huge umbrellas, snow-white and pink acacias, you can observe the life of several dozen species of mammals. And the number of bird species is simply amazing - there are more than 400 of them.
Another park, Masai Mara, is located to the west of Nairobi. It gives you the opportunity to see almost all the animals of East Africa in one place. An unforgettable impression is left by meeting with black lions, as well as with numerous hippos and crocodiles. Another unforgettable sight that can be seen in the park is the migration of more than a million different animals. The migration originates from Tanzania National Park, located on the border with Masai Mara Park. It is possible to observe the mass passage of animals in search of food in the summer - from July to September.
One of the oldest parks in Amboseli is located at the foot of Kilimanjaro, thanks to which you can admire not only the animal world, but also the snow-capped peak of the highest African mountain. The park cannot boast of a rich flora, but this disadvantage is more than compensated for by a variety of animals - rhinos, cheetahs and zebra lions, gazelles, wildebeests, buffaloes, giraffes, elephants, baboons and many other representatives of the African fauna, including numerous birds.
For those who want not only to observe animals, but also to enjoy active sports, such an opportunity is provided by the Mount Kenya Park, located around the mountain of the same name. The mountain serves as the beginning for many rivers, including the Tana River. Viewing beautiful landscapes and majestic animals can be combined with trekking or rock climbing. The trails are different - for both professionals and beginners. Among the inhabitants of the park are elephants, buffaloes, antelopes and black rhinos. You can also see eagles soaring in the sky.
Rain forests and picturesque cliffs, crystal-clear waterfalls and alpine wastelands, dozens of animals, including a black leopard, rhinos, antelopes, wild boars, duikers, bushboks - all this is Aberdard Park. Dense vegetation makes it impossible to travel in traditional safari jeeps. You can only explore the park on foot, which makes the excursion not only exciting, but also extreme. The walk is accompanied by flooded singing and shrill cries of various birds.
On the coast of the Indian Ocean, there is Watamu Park, rich in coral reefs, mangrove forests and diverse and unique flora. People come to the park for diving and fishing. If you're lucky, you can spot stingrays, whale sharks, barracudas, octopuses and large sea turtles, including the leatherback turtle, olive turtle, bissa and green turtle.
Another popular park is Lake Nakuru Park. This alkaline lake allows you to see a variety of birds - cormorants, pelicans, pink flamingos. An unforgettable sight is the gathering of pink flamingos, whose number sometimes exceeds a million. In addition to birds, the park is also home to black rhinos, leopards, warthogs, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, waterbirds and other animals.
Kenya's parks can be visited almost all year round, with the exception of the rainy season, which occurs in April-May, as well as November.
