There are enough places in Yekaterinburg for a good rest, including forest parks and squares. But there is no reservoir where you could swim or fish. More precisely, there are several lakes and ponds within the city limits - for example, VIZ and Shartash. Alas, only suicides can swim and fish here, they are so dirty and dangerous to health. Rescue from the summer heat for Yekaterinburg residents are only located a few tens of kilometers from the city of Lakes Tavatui and Baltym. If, of course, you know how and what to get to them.
Egypt or the Urals?
You can start looking for a settlement called Baltym not only in different regions and countries, but also on different continents. One of them, a city, is located in African Egypt. The second is a village, and with it the lake of the same name, in the Sverdlovsk Region of the Ural Federal District. More precisely, 27 kilometers north of the capital of the region - Yekaterinburg, on the territory of the municipality of Verkhnyaya Pyshma.
Verkhnyaya Pyshma, a satellite city of Yekaterinburg, is known for one of the country's largest metallurgical works, the strongest table tennis team in Russia, an open-air museum of military equipment and, finally, the picturesque Baltym Lake with its numerous recreation centers and beaches. On which in the summer, as they say, there is nowhere for an apple to fall. As, in fact, on the beaches of Egypt.
According to experts from the water protection department, the depth of Baltym, located in the Pyshma river basin, reaches five and a half meters, its length is four kilometers, and its width is about three kilometers. The main catch of fishing enthusiasts is carp, bream, perch and pike. Baltym was also chosen by athletes from the local yacht club, who conduct a traditional sailing regatta in the lake water area.
Public transport
The main disadvantage of recreation of the townspeople in Baltym, as in all other reservoirs outside Yekaterinburg, is the lack of a large number of possible modes of transport. Yes, there are, in fact, only two - municipal buses and personal / company cars. Except, of course, taxis and bicycles.
Buses, which can take you almost to the lake, run from the square in front of the Yekaterinburg railway station and from several stops located in the Ordzhonikidze district of the city adjacent to Verkhnyaya Pyshma. Yekaterinburg residents call the latter shortly - "Uralmash". In particular, bus No. 103 will take you from the Zarya cinema or the Uralmash metro station to the villages of Kedrovoe and Polovinny, No. 104 to the village of Krasnoe, from where it is only 15 minutes walk to Baltym at a calm pace. But it is best to take bus # 161 at the Pedagogical University and get to the village of Sanatorny.
As for the bus going from the station square through the village of Baltym, you need to take it to the 18th kilometer. And after getting off, turn left and walk three kilometers to the southern shore of the lake. Another option is a trip towards Nizhniy Tagil. You only need to get off the bus at the tenth kilometer of the road and also walk three kilometers to the southern coast.
Automobile
Experienced Ural autotourists offer two possible route options from Yekaterinburg to Baltym. The first of them involves a trip along the Starotagil tract through the village of the same name with the lake and up to the landmark in the form of a two-story white house standing alone by the road. Immediately after home, you can see several less comfortable country roads, each of which leads directly to the lake and parking lots. A disadvantage for drivers with passengers and a plus for the environment and the lake is that it is impossible to drive closer than 300 meters to Baltym, it is fenced off with special barriers.
The second option is a trip through Verkhnyaya Pyshma along the Serov tract to the village of Sanatorny. After which you need to turn right and freely go directly to the shore of the lake, which is not fenced in this place.
