Goa climate - when the rainy season begins and ends

The length of the day in Goa does not fluctuate much, unlike in Russia. In the summer it is twelve hours, in the winter it is eleven. Therefore, tourists will have enough day not only for swimming in the sea, but also for sightseeing.

Goa is the smallest Indian state, but at the same time the most popular with tourists. From November to the end of March, it is densely populated with newcomers. But closer to mid-April, the travelers leave. The thing is that the climate in this part of India is subequatorial. The dry and wet seasons are very strong. From mid-April, and sometimes from its first days, it starts to rain. And if the first few days of precipitation are intermittent, and sometimes the sun peeps out, then starting from May it rains almost round the clock.

During the monsoons, the temperature remains quite high - in May it reaches 33-35 degrees. The water spilled from above is actively evaporated, which ensures a constant high humidity. Resting at this time in Goa is not at all comfortable. Not only can it rain suddenly, catching travelers on the road or on the beach. Due to the high humidity in the premises, mold begins to form, which often affects not only walls, but also clothes. Under such conditions, things always remain a little wet and deteriorate quickly.

Goa is a former Portuguese colony in India. In this state, you can see abandoned forts with ancient cannons, Catholic churches, houses of European architecture. This makes Goa very different from other Indian states.

The amount of precipitation rises sharply in June - 868.2 mm compared to 112.7 mm in May. The maximum amount of precipitation falls in July - 994.8 mm. Then their number gradually decreases. In August it is already 512, 7 mm, in September - 251, 9, in October - 124, 8. The monsoons stop abruptly, and in November the amount of precipitation does not exceed 30, 9 mm. Rains during this period are rare, perceived by local residents as an anomaly.

When is the best time to relax in Goa

The sunniest months in Goa are January and February. They are also optimal for visiting this Indian state. By this time, not a trace remains of the effects of the monsoons. All hotels and guesthouses have been tidied up, the walls have been cleaned of mold, the washed-out roads have been restored. Goa is becoming a cozy and comfortable place to stay. By the end of December, the sea water warms up to a maximum mark of 28-29 degrees. And it remains so throughout the winter months.
