The Golden Ring of Russia passes through the regions adjacent to the Moscow region. It covers the Kostroma, Moscow, Vladimir, Ivanovo and Yaroslavl provinces.
Cities of the Golden Ring of Russia - the main list
Sixteen cities are considered the pearls of the Golden Ring of Russia: Vladimir, Aleksandrov, Gus-Khrustalny, Kalyazin, Ivanovo, Moscow, Kostroma, Ples, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Rybinsk, Sergiev Posad, Rostov Veliky, Uglich, Suzdal, Yaroslavl and Yuryev-Polsky. Each of them has retained its ancient, unique flavor. In Vladimir, tourists will see the entrance gates and cathedrals, in Alexandrov - old churches and houses of unusual architecture, in Pereslavl-Zalessky they will visit the boat of Peter the Great, in Suzdal they will plunge into the atmosphere of wooden architecture, recreated in the city open-air museum. Each of these cities and towns has something unusual and interesting. And one day is hardly enough to see even the main attractions. That is why it is better to travel around the cities of the Golden Ring on your own in order to stay in the settlement you like as long as you want, without becoming attached to the group.
During the first week-long trip, you can see the cities in the Vladimir region and those that are located nearby: Vladimir, Suzdal, Bogolyubovo, Ivanovo, Palekh, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Aleksandrov.
Additional cities of the Golden Ring
Not always, but often enough, excursions include the following cities: Nizhny Novgorod, Shuya, Murom, Palekh, Bogolyubovo. They are not included in the official list of the Golden Ring of Russia. But each of them has a rich history, and they are undoubtedly interesting for travelers. And if the question of the timing of the tour is not urgent, each of these cities should be given a little time.
Do not forget that the main flow of tourists travels along the Golden Ring in summer. If you have also chosen this period - take care of booking the hotel in advance.
How to link several cities on a trip
It will take a very long time to see all the cities included in the Golden Ring. If you do not have it, you can break the journey into parts. For this, the main thing is to correctly draw up a route. Take a map and decide which way you go - clockwise or counterclockwise. Mark the city of the Golden Ring on the map. Initially, lay a day for each city, leaving two or three free days in stock. You will need them if you decide to stay in your favorite place longer. If you only have days off, don't try to cover the entire list. In two days you can see two neighboring cities. Although you may be so interested in one that you will not get to the other. There is no need to rush. It is better to enjoy the beauty of every Russian corner, finding something of your own in it, than to hurry to see the main attractions without revealing the secret of the charm of the old city.
