Madrid is the capital of Spain, so to visit the city you will need a Spanish visa, which belongs to the Schengen category. If you have a Schengen visa issued by any other state that has signed the agreement, you can travel to Madrid on it, but if you do not have a visa, then it is recommended to apply to the Spanish consulate.
Application form and passport
The main document is a visa application form completed in Spanish or English. It is allowed to fill it in by hand or on a computer. Upon completion of filling, the document must be personally signed by the applicant.
You will also need a foreign passport, valid for at least 90 days from the date of expiry of the requested visa. It is obligatory to have at least two free pages for pasting a visa sticker and affixing entry stamps. From each page of the passport, you need to take a photocopy and attach it to the documents. The personal data page is required to have two copies.
If you have old passports with stamps of any countries, then you need to attach them too.
Do not forget to make photocopies of absolutely all pages of the Russian passport, even those on which there is nothing.
Attach 2 photographs of 3, 5 x 4, 5 cm in size to the application form, made on a white background, without corners, frames and ovals. One of the photos must be glued to the questionnaire, the second must be attached with a paper clip.
Insurance and confirmation of the purpose of stay
A medical insurance policy and its photocopy are required for a visa. It must be valid throughout the Schengen area, the required amount of coverage is at least 30 thousand euros.
Attach tickets to and from the country to your documents. You can provide air tickets, bus or train. Both copies from originals and printouts from booking sites will do.
For a visa, a hotel reservation is required for the entire period of stay in the country, which contains all the details of the reservation, including the hotel details and personal data of the tourist, as well as the length of stay. If you are traveling on a private visit, then you need to attach an invitation, a certificate of relationship (if it is a relative) and a copy of the identity card of the inviting person.
Proof of employment and availability of finance
Usually, a certificate of employment is provided as proof of employment, which is done on letterhead. It should list the position, salary and work experience of the applicant, and it should also be mentioned that for the duration of the trip, a person is granted leave without losing his position. The certificate must be certified by the accountant and the head of the company.
Individual entrepreneurs need to show a certificate of registration of an enterprise, tax registration, as well as a TIN. All documents should be brought in their original form, with photocopies attached.
People who are not currently working and who do not have enough of their own to pay for the trip need to take care of a sponsorship letter. The sponsor must make a certificate of his work, attach a copy of the first page of the passport. You will also need documents confirming the relationship (only close relatives can sponsor the trip).
To confirm the availability of funds for the trip, you need to make a bank statement on an official letterhead, certified by the bank's seal. The funds on the account must be at least 57-62 euros for each day of stay (depending on the place of application, the amount varies slightly). Regardless of the length of the trip, the amount on the account must not be less than 565 euros.
