Instructions
Step 1
There are two types of invitations. The first is a simple invitation written in free form in German. It is necessary to indicate there the name and surname of the inviting person and the one whom he invites to visit, his period of stay in the country, as well as the address where the resident of Germany lives. The document must be signed and certified by the Office for Foreign Citizens' Affairs, which is usually located in the Town Hall, it will cost 5 euros.
Step 2
The second type of invitation is official, which is done in a special form and with all kinds of information. This invitation is called Verpflichtungserklaerung, which roughly translates to "surety for a foreign guest." This document implies acceptance of legal and financial obligations, that is, in this case, the invited person is usually not required to provide any financial documents. Such an invitation has more weight in the eyes of the consulates, but it is also more difficult for the inviter to get it, since you have to run around different bureaucratic institutions.
Step 3
To obtain an invitation form Verpflichtungserklaerung, you must go to the Foreigners Office. There they will give out a list of documents that are needed to invite a foreigner, and also inform when the officials who sign the paperwork are working. Usually, such documents as an identity card, a certificate from work and a certificate of income for the last 3 months of the inviting person are required, as well as a copy of the identity card of the invitee (passport), information about him (full name, date of birth, passport number, place of permanent residence, etc. others). In addition, you will need to obtain a form describing housing conditions, which will indicate the size of the room. It is assumed that each person has access to a living space of at least 15 sq. m. You will also need to pay an invitation fee of 25 euros.
Step 4
For a visa, it is best to provide the original invitation, but if this is not possible, you can scan the paper and send it by e-mail. Faxing is also a good option. Any invitation is valid for 6 months.
