If you have only one day to see the sights of the center of St. Petersburg, it is best to think over the plan of your walk in advance. After all, it is important that you periodically have the opportunity to have a snack and rest. A map of the city's attractions will help you.
Step 2
You can start with a trip to the State Hermitage. This is a huge museum in terms of its scale, it will take you maximum energy to visit it. In general, there are about three million exhibits in the Hermitage, and it is easy to calculate how long it will take you if you spend a minute on each of them.. So, if you want to include the famous museum in your walk, you will have to limit yourself to a cursory examination. At the exit from the Hermitage, you will get acquainted with the Palace Square and the Alexander Column. After that, it is better to take a break and relax in one of the cafes on Nevsky.

The next point of the route is the Russian Museum. This is another test for tired legs, since the length of the museum halls is quite large. Here you will see pictures familiar from the school textbook: "Barge Haulers on the Volga" by Repin, "A Knight at the Crossroads" by Vasnetsov and many others. On your way to the museum, take a look at the Kazan Cathedral. Then turn onto the embankment of the Griboyedov Canal, walk to Italianskaya Street and rub the nose of the bronze Ostap Bender there - they say it brings good luck. Then go through the Arts Square, and in front of you will be the building of the Russian Museum.
Step 4
After the galleries with paintings, you can stroll through the Mikhailovsky Garden, which is located nearby, and walk to the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. From it, along Bolshaya Konyushennaya, get to the Field of Mars, and then to the Summer Garden. It is just a stone's throw from the Fontanka River and the small but famous monument to Chizhik-Pyzhik. If you still have strength, you can back up a little and walk to Malaya Sadovaya Street - there are bronze cats Vasilisa and Elisey (try to find them!) And a monument to the photographer. Then you can wander around the Gostiny Dvor, and after that admire the monuments "The Taming of the Horse by Man" on the Anichkov Bridge. You can then take the metro at Mayakovskaya station and get to the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, or you can walk to it, in any case, the walk, and with it the day, is coming to an end. Your next route is the Peter and Paul Fortress, the Admiralty and Dostoevsky's places in the Sennaya Square area.
