Perm is a large diversified, cultural, industrial and scientific city located in the foothills of the Urals, in the east of the European part of Russia, on the banks of the Kama. This wonderful city has its own characteristics and attractions.
A certain feature of the city of Perm is that modern elite new buildings here are combined with beautiful churches and old quarters built tens and hundreds of years ago. The beautiful and wide Komsomolsky Prospekt is a wonderful place for walking. Here is the building of the bishop's house and the Cathedral of the Transfiguration Monastery, erected in 1793. A local history museum and an art gallery are located nearby.
There are a lot of historical monuments in the city, one of them is the Tsar Cannon, which was cast back in 1868 at the Motovilikhinsky Copper Smelter, later it was entered in the Guinness Book of Records. The weight of the barrel is 2800 pounds, and the core weighs 30 pounds. During the tests, three hundred shots were fired from the cannon.
Near the Perm railway station, you can visit the unusual Garden of Stones. By the way, Perm has its own small piece of Paris, or rather, a miniature copy of the Eiffel Tower, which is only eleven meters high. It was built as a promotional item for one company, and it took almost seven tons of steel to build the tower. This original monument immediately became a favorite and popular place not only among residents of the city, but also among tourists, who are sure to take a memorable photo against the background of the tower. In local shops, you can buy souvenir magnets with a miniature copy of the Eiffel Tower as a gift or as a keepsake. And it is located on Ryazanskaya Street, next to the house number 19.
Among the sights of Perm can be noted a church built before the revolution, the Church of the Ascension or Theodosievskaya church. In the 1930s, this building housed a dormitory, and then a bakery. But in 1991 the building was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church and restored. The architectural monuments of the city also include the Mariinsky Women's Gymnasium and Theological School, the Manor of the merchant Gavrilov and the Bishops' House, the Cyril and Methodius School and the Assumption Convent, as well as the Church of All Saints and the Cathedral of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.
