Finland is a country with which Russia has a common border. For this reason, residents of the north-western regions have the opportunity to obtain a Finnish visa under a simplified scheme, they are most often issued multiple entry permits. Others usually need to obtain several single-entry Finnish visas before being given a multivisa.

Necessary

  • - international passport,
  • - completed form,
  • - 1 color photograph 35 x 45 mm,
  • - photocopies of significant pages of the Russian passport, a photocopy of the page with registration is required,
  • - confirmation of the purpose of the trip (invitation, hotel reservation, travel itinerary, travel voucher),
  • - medical insurance policy for the Schengen countries.

Instructions

Step 1

If you are applying for a Finnish visa for the first time, and there are no other Schengen visas in your passport, then do not count on a multivisa. There are Schengen countries that willingly give multivisa even at the first application, but this is not Finland. This country makes an exception only for those who have a registration in their passport of one of the border regions. Such people usually get a multiple entry visa even if they ask for a one-time entry permit. In any case, whichever visa you apply for, the decision is always made by the Finnish consulate, and unfortunately it may not be what you would like.

Step 2

You need to start obtaining a visa with the preparation of documents. Their list for Finland is somewhat different from the usual Schengen set. Usually, such documents as tickets to the country and back, a certificate from the place of work, as well as a bank statement confirming the availability of a sufficient amount of funds are not required (but may be needed). The money on the account must be at the rate of 30 euros for each day of stay, no less.

Step 3

The visa application can be submitted online on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland. In this case, the application will be processed in an accelerated mode, since electronic forms are processed faster. But it is allowed to bring a paper questionnaire as well. In any case, before submitting documents, the application form must be printed and signed. You can fill it in in English or Russian, but in the latter case, you should use Latin letters.

Step 4

The insurance policy must be drawn up in one of the accredited agencies, a full list of them can be found on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland. If the policy is issued by another organization, it will not be considered. The period of validity of the policy must begin immediately from the date of application. All accompanying documents for the Finnish consulate must be typed on a computer. No handwritten statements will be accepted.

Step 5

You can apply for a visa either at the Consulate of Finland (by appointment only), or at the Visa Application Center, where it is permissible to submit papers on a first-come, first-served basis. If you apply at the consulate, then the visa will cost you 35 euros. If you apply through the visa center, you will need to additionally pay for its services.

Step 6

The visa processing time is usually about 6-10 working days. In rare cases, it can be increased. It is possible to apply for an urgent visa, for this you need to have documents confirming the need for such a step. For example, it can be air tickets. The consular fee in this case is doubled.
