"Dubrovitsy" is a noble estate in the Moscow region, located on the banks of the Pakhra and Desna rivers. The pearl of this place is the Church of the Sign of the Most Holy Theotokos, built according to an unusual project.
People come to Dubrovitsy not only to see the sights, but also to relax. In warm weather, there are many tourists from Moscow, the Moscow region and other parts of Russia. Here you can walk along the linden alley, fish on the river and even come to a picnic.
The history of the estate
The first mention of this place dates back to 1627. Initially, these places belonged to the boyar Morozov, but then the territory went to the Golitsins, Dmitriev-Mamonovs and Potemkin.
It was Boris Golitsyn who built an unusual church in Dubrovitsy, the project of which was supported by Peter I. The Tsar was interested in the construction of this building, since it was created in the style of the early Italian Baroque. But the temple turned out to be so unusual and far from Orthodox traditions that Patriarch Andrian refused to consecrate it. The construction of the Church of the Sign was completed in 1697, but it was only consecrated in 1704. In 1788, Catherine II bought the estate and presented it to Alexander Dmitriev-Mamonov, and then this territory was inherited by Matvey Mamonov, the son of Alexander.
Before the revolution, the estate belonged to Sergei Golitsyn, a famous collector and creator of the Golitsyn Museum. In Soviet times, a museum of noble life was opened in the building, then the territory was transferred to an orphanage, and then to an agricultural technical school. And in 1961, a research institute of animal husbandry settled in Dubrovitsy. And only in 1990, a church for parishioners was reopened in the estate.
Description of the estate
