Beautiful large statues are the decoration and compositional center of any city, which is why they are often installed in various places. The statue visually "gathers" a vast territory into a single whole. By no means is any figure installed on a pedestal called a statue, but only one that depicts a person, animal or fictional character in three-dimensional form.

The largest statue of a person who actually lived is installed in the Russian city of Volgograd - it is, as you might guess, a monument to Lenin. It is located at the entrance to the Volga-Don Canal, the height of the monument is 57 meters. The statue was installed in 1973.

Its height is 153 m, this record has not yet been broken by any other statue.

Shakyamuni Buddha in Myanmar is no exception. The height of the statue is 130 m, it began to be erected in 1996 and finished in 2008. The sculpture is located in a place called Khatakan Taung.

It is practically not inferior in height to the previous sculpture of Buddha from Japan. The monument is installed in the city of Usiku, 50 km from Tokyo, it depicts the Buddha Amitabha. The palms of the Buddha and specially connected fingers remind the followers of the teaching of its most important principles. The height of the Buddha is 120 m, the sculpture was erected in 1995.

The next highest statue depicts the Bodhisattva Guanyin, it is located in China, the city of Sanya. Its height is 108 m, it was installed in 2005. Quite a bit inferior to this is another Chinese statue, which represents the heads of two great Chinese emperors. Its height is 106 meters, the statue is located in the city of Zhengzhou. It was completed in 2007 after twenty years of construction.

The tallest Christian statue is Cristo Rey, a sculpture of Christ erected in the city of Almada, Portugal. It was built in 1959 with money donated by the inhabitants of the country, wishing to thank God for not allowing Portugal to participate in the Second World War, and its inhabitants did not suffer. The height of the statue is 103 m.

Two statues "Motherland Calls!" in Volgograd and "Motherland" in Kiev have the same height, 102 m each. The Volgograd sculpture was installed in 1967. She is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest sculptural statue in the world, since the other tall statues do not differ in particular elaboration of details, people on them look rather sketchy. "The Motherland Calls!" - This is a monument to all the heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad, it was installed on the Mamayev Kurgan in 1967. "Motherland" in Kiev was created in 1981, it stands on a hill on the right bank of the Dnieper.
