Austria is considered the birthplace of skiing, and this is no wonder, because the Alps occupy most of its territory. Most of the Austrian resorts are traditional Alpine villages, each with its own unique flavor and history. There are more than a thousand such places on the map of Austria, so you can easily find a resort to your taste.

The highest mountains are located in the province of Tyrol, here, in the picturesque Paznauntal valley, there are three ski resorts: fashionable Ischgl, quiet and cozy Galtür and the traditionally Alpine Kappl.

Ischgl. This ski resort is only a few decades old. In the 1960s, only climbers came here, but today it is the most fashionable and expensive resort in Austria. He is especially loved by our compatriots, so do not be surprised if the porter at the hotel reception addresses you in Russian. You will also see signs in Russian on the lifts. In short, make yourself at home! Ischgl is part of the famous Silvretta ski arena, from here you can get to Samnaun, the ski resort of Switzerland. Actually, the Ischgl - Samnaun zone consists of approximately the same proportion of Austrian and Swiss parts, that is, during skiing, you can travel any number of times from one country to another (a visa is not required, a ski pass is enough). And if you buy the Silvretta ski pass, then in addition to the 20 km of trails in the Ischgl - Zimnaun region, the nearby villages of See and Kappl (lower along the valley), as well as Galtür (9 km higher along the gorge) become available. Each of them will add 40 km to your skiing preferences!

There are trails here not only for beginners, but also for those who like to tickle their nerves: frankly black, in Christmas trees or around rocks, strewn with pebbles and without them.

But leisure in Ischgl is not limited only to active recreation: there are a huge number of nightclubs in the village, where young people like to relax after a day full of skiing. There is even a pretentious Pasha.

Galtyur. Unlike a noisy neighbor, Galtyur has a completely different character: you rarely find noisy companies here, unless someone wanders in by mistake, but there are many families with children. Chair lifts take you up to the Alpkogel Hotel, giving you access to the wonderful blue and red runs. If you don't consider yourself a freerider yet, then this resort is perfect for you. For lovers of night skiing, there is an illuminated track. In addition to cafes and restaurants, there are tennis courts, a bowling alley, an indoor pool and an outdoor ice rink. If fun is not enough for you, you can reach Ischgl in 15 minutes by car.

Kappl. The idyllic alpine village of Kappl is a place where good snow and sunny weather are guaranteed. The secret lies in the location of the resort on the slope. That is why here you can always see rows of vacationers in sun loungers right on the mountainside. However, remember that the sun in the mountains is very active, so if you decide to sunbathe, do not forget about sunscreen! The pistes make up a total of 40 km of slopes - wide and very comfortable. Ideal for first-time skiers.
