The most visited theme park in Spain is PortAventura World. What does a tourist need to know when going there for the very first time?
General information about PortAventura World
Port Aventura World is a theme park located in Salou, Spain, on the Costa Dorada. From Salou to PortAventura can be reached by Bus Plana and the tourist train in 5-10 minutes, from Barcelona by train it takes about an hour. Port Aventura World has three theme parks: the eponymous PortAventura Park, the Caribe Aquatic Park and the more recently opened Ferrari Land.
The admission to the park is carried out with a single ticket, which allows you to freely visit all the attractions. There are several options for admission, including different combinations of parks and the number of days spent in them. It is very convenient that if you take, for example, a ticket "3 days-3 parks", you can scatter these 3 days a week as you wish. That is, you do not have to go there strictly three days in a row. In addition, you can safely leave the park and return to it on the same day. When you leave, they will put a seal on your hand, according to which you will return.
Practical advice
Perhaps one of the best options for visiting PortAventura World is “3 days - 3 parks”. This ticket includes 1 day of visiting PortAventura Park, 1 day of the water park and 1 day in which you can visit Ferrari Park and PortAventura together.
If you are traveling during the season itself (July-August), the queues will be very long and you will have to stand for 1, 5-2 hours. That is why I strongly advise you to come to the best slides immediately after the opening of the park, at 10-11 am. In Port Aventura, these are Shambhala and Dragon Khan slides, in Ferrari Park - Red Force. At this time, the queues will already be, but not so huge.
The food in PortAventura is mostly fast food, the portions, although large and tasty, are very expensive. Lunch for one person will be at least 17-20 euros. And it is imperative to dine there, because they usually come there for the whole day. So it is quite possible to take something to the Park with you; at the entrance, food will definitely not be taken away and it is not forbidden to eat your own food there.
In the height of summer, be sure to bring a hat, a lightweight cape on the shoulders, sunscreen and glasses. You will have to spend hours in the open sun, including a siesta. Sometimes queues are in the open air rather than under a canopy. All this must be taken into account in order not to earn heatstroke.
There are many water attractions in PortAventura Park, in front of which raincoats are sold. And these raincoats are very expensive there, so it's better to take care in advance if you don't want to get wet to the skin. In principle, everything dries out pretty quickly in the heat, but the feeling of wet denim shorts for several hours in a row is an unpleasant thing. For those who do not want to wear a raincoat and do not want to walk wet either, there are special cabins for drying clothes, but they will cost 2 euros.
When visiting Caribe Aquatic Park, it is better not to take any valuables with you. Storage bins are very expensive there - 5 euros per locker, and the queue to get the key is always very long and long, just like for the best attraction.
And, of course, do not forget to take a brochure with a map, a description of attractions and a schedule of events at the entrance to each park, so as not to miss the most interesting places and events!
