Tipping is a small percentage of the order amount that is paid to the service personnel. In some countries, it is imperative to tip, not to do it is to show the highest degree of bad manners. Tipping in Russia is left when people like it in the restaurant. If the service was excellent, the food is delicious, and the waiters are helpful, you should definitely leave a tip. You can even add on top of what you usually leave to reward the establishment's staff. Usually, if the service is bad, customers leave about 5%, and if it is very good, the amount often rises to 15%. More than 15% of tea is usually given only by wasteful or drunk visitors.

There are good manners when it comes to tips. For example, in Germany it is customary to tell the waiter that you are happy with the service when you leave a tip. There are no established norms in Russia. There are countries where tipping is considered an insult, like Japan. It is helpful to clarify the tip traditions before you travel.

Some establishments put a tip box right at the checkout. Usually it says something like "for a tip", but sometimes inventive waiters come up with various funny inscriptions to cheer up customers or make them laugh. I must say that this policy works, there are much more tips in such boxes.
