Summer vacations in Turkey and Egypt have already become commonplace for many Russians. And people who have been to the popular resorts of these countries more than once may want to change their surroundings and visit more exotic vacation spots. One of these routes not yet fully mastered by tourists is Australia. However, before traveling there, a Russian citizen must obtain a visa. How can this be done?

Instructions
Step 1
If you do not have a passport yet, apply for it. This can be done at the office of the Federal Migration Service at your place of residence. Registration of the document will take a maximum of one month if you live by registration, or more if you are in another region.
Step 2
Decide what type of visa you need. All Australian visas are divided into two categories - for short-term or long-term stay - emigration. The first category includes tourist, business visas, study visas - the most frequently demanded types of documents. Choose the type of visa that suits your purpose of stay in the country.
Step 3
Prepare the rest of the documents required to obtain a visa. For a tourist visa, you will need to add an invitation and a copy of the inviting person's ID to the main package of documents if you are traveling to a friend or relative. Also get a certificate from your employer stating your place of work and income. Students can present a university certificate or student ID. Additionally, you can provide documents on the ownership of any property. In special cases, additional documents may be required, a complete list of which can be found on the embassy's website. Minors must add to the package of documents a birth certificate and permission to leave from a parent who does not accompany the child.
Step 4
If you are traveling to Australia for more than three months or are over 75 years old, you must provide a medical certificate from your doctor.
Step 5
Translate all documents, except for the Russian passport, into English. This can be done by contacting a translation agency. The translation must be certified by a notary.
Step 6
Come to the Australian Embassy with your package of documents. It is located at Moscow, Podkolokolny lane, 10A / 2. On the spot, you can take and fill out a visa application form, or you can download this application form on the embassy's website in advance. Contact an embassy officer and he will explain you how to proceed. You will also need to pay a visa processing fee.
