Now many parents have the opportunity to send their children abroad both with their families and alone, for example, to study in a language course or to relax in a camp. But an important problem remains the processing of documents for departure, for example, visas. Does the child need it to travel abroad?
First of all, the need for a visa for a child, as well as for an adult, depends on the visa regime established by the country of arrival. To travel to visa-free countries, a passport is enough for both children and adults.
To travel to countries with a mandatory visa for Russians, various options are possible. If you have an old-style international passport, that is, for five years, then a child traveling with you may not receive a visa. But for this it must be entered in your passport. This entry must be made and certified by an employee of the Federal Migration Service at your place of residence.
At the same time, if the child is already listed in your passport, and you want to travel with him, then when submitting the visa application form, indicate that you want to travel with the child. If the answer is yes to your request, you will be issued a visa with a special note stating that you are traveling with a child.
Parents who have received a "new generation" passport for ten years can no longer write off their child there. Therefore, they will have to issue a separate passport and a separate visa for their son or daughter. When obtaining a visa, one of the parents can fill out the application form from the consulate and sign it himself. In most cases, a parent can also apply for a visa on their own. The presence of the child is required only if he is over fourteen years old, or at the special request of the embassy.
Please also note that the list of documents for "child" and "adult" visas may differ. Usually, for paperwork for a child, you must additionally provide a birth certificate and a notarized consent from the second parent, if you do not leave with the whole family. These documents must be supplemented with a notarized translation into the language of the country of destination.
