What to visit in Abkhazia
Abkhazia attracts tourists with a beach holiday on the Black Sea coast, which is much cleaner in this place than on the coast of the Krasnodar Territory. You can swim and sunbathe from early May to mid-October on the beaches of Gagra, Pitsunda and New Athos. For tourists there are hotels and apartments for rent in the private sector.
There, you can independently go on an excursion and visit nearby attractions. In Gagra, for example, it is worth going to a large park with exotic plants and walking along Old Gagra. In Novy Afon, you can take an excursion to the caves, climb the mountain to the Novo-Afon Monastery, or take a walk in the local park immersed in greenery with small waterfalls.
Lake Ritsa, located to the east of the Gagra ridge and surrounded on three sides by mountains, deserves special attention. It can be said without exaggeration that this is one of the most beautiful and picturesque places in Abkhazia. There you can take a boat with an accompanying person and enjoy the azure water and green mountains to your heart's content.
Also in Abkhazia, you can visit the Pitsunda relict grove with a length of 7 km, go to Lake Inkit or go for a drive in the mountains in jeeps. The capital of Sukhum is also interesting, where tourists should visit the Abkhaz State Museum, the Botanical Garden, the Monkey Nursery or the Abkhaz State Theater.
