Istanbul is one of the oldest Turkish cities. Epochs were mixed there. This city at different times was the capital of four empires - Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and Latin. It is incredibly attractive for tourists, as the number of attractions in it is very large.

Step 1
It is very convenient to get from Moscow to Istanbul. Airplanes fly there from all three international airports - Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo. There are several flights a day. Travel time is about 3.5 hours. You don't need a visa to get to Istanbul. A valid foreign passport is enough. Its validity must be at least three months from the date of the end of the trip.
Step 2
You can also get to Istanbul by car, but the path will be quite long. In this case, you will have to cross the Russia-Ukraine border, which can take a long time during the holiday season. But if you nevertheless decide to travel by car, go from Moscow along the Kaluga highway to the M2 highway, in the direction of Kaluga. You will pass it, then Bryansk. The border with Ukraine will be after the settlement of Sevsk. Then keep the point through Nizhyn to Kiev. Then - through Uman to Odessa. In Odessa, you need a seaport. From there, ferries leave for Istanbul. Travel time is about twenty hours plus the time on the ferry, which will need to cross the Black Sea. Of course, this route is not as fast as by plane. But on the way, you can see the sights and ancient Russian and Ukrainian cities. It is also interesting to sail along the Bosphorus - a narrow strait that connects the Black and Marmara seas.
Step 3
There is another land route that can take you to Istanbul. You need to purchase a ticket for the Moscow - Sofia train. It departs from the Kievsky railway station. Having reached the Bulgarian capital, at the same station, you change to the Sofia - Istanbul train. There are also buses from Bulgaria to the Turkish capital. The bus station (in Bulgarian - "autogara") is located next to the railway station. Travel time by bus is about the same as by train - about twelve hours.
