Today, various companies produce a wide range of waterproof footwear, which, however, does not always guarantee protection from slush and puddles. So how do you choose quality shoes and keep your feet dry in any weather?
Wearing rules
Ideally, each person should have five pairs of shoes for the fall / winter period. In dry, sunny weather, suede or leather boots (boots) with thin soles should be worn. In frosty, dry and sunny weather, light fur shoes with glue-stitched soles should be worn. For relatively wet weather, it is better to choose shoes with high soles, around the perimeter of the attachment of which there is no thread seam.
Shoes with high heels, thin soles, thin leather and split details on the shaft will never protect your feet from moisture.
On rainy days, you need to walk down the street in high-quality rubber shoes, which today are represented not by ugly Soviet galoshes, but by attractive boots of bright colors. Also in elite stores they sell excellent galoshes for expensive shoes, which will reliably protect them from street puddles. In wet snowy weather, you should wear boots or boots equipped with a molded sole, which is attached by the glue-molding (vacuum) method. If your budget does not allow you to spend on five pairs of shoes, you need to purchase one, but of the highest quality and level of waterproofness.
Choice of waterproof shoes
When choosing waterproof shoes, you need to pay attention to the density and thickness of its skin and soles, as well as the height of the sole rim and the fit of the foot - the freer it is, the less the shoes will get wet. You should not buy tight boots, as their skin will gradually stretch and lose its moisture resistance. Important factors are the tightness of the method of fixing the sole and shoe care.
Today there are special creams and impregnations for shoes that have water-repellent properties and significantly extend the "life" of the boots (boots).
To choose reliable waterproof shoes for the rainy season, you should avoid models with glue-stitched soles, through which water will seep. The most leak-proof is the adhesive fastening in combination with the thick sole and its high rim. A flat and thin sole with this fastening method will not save you from getting wet in wet weather, not to mention walking in puddles.
The most optimal choice of waterproof footwear is a highly airtight model with an adhesive-injection method of fastening (liquid molding method). In factory production, the upper is first made, and then the sole is molded directly onto it using a special mold.
