Step 1
An Austrian visa entitles you not only to visit Austria itself, but also Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Portugal and many other countries of the Schengen area. You can get a visa to Austria through an accredited travel agency, but you can do it yourself by making an appointment at the Austrian consulate.
Step 2
There are several types of visas for entering Austria: A visa (transit) - gives the right to travel through the country or stay in the controlled area of the airport; visa C (short-term) entitles you to visit Austria for tourist purposes, on business visits, at the invitation of relatives or friends (with this visa you can visit the countries of the Schengen zone); D visa (national visa) gives the right to reside in the country from 3 to 6 months without a residence permit.

To obtain a visa, submit a package of documents to the Austrian Embassy in Moscow, to the Consulate General of Finland in St. Petersburg or to the Consulate General of Hungary in Yekaterinburg, which are also entitled to issue Austrian visas.
The package of documents includes a visa application form signed by the applicant personally; passport with two blank pages and a certified copy of the first page with your data; two of your color photographs 35x45 mm without ovals, frames and corners with a clear color image; medical and accident insurance. The total amount of the insurance must not be less than EUR 30,000.
Step 4
Prepare a bank statement confirming your solvency, a certificate from the place of work in the form of 2NDFL. For tourist trips, it is necessary to provide documents confirming the hotel reservation and plane tickets.
Step 5
If you are traveling to Austria by private invitation, provide the original of the invitation, copies of the passport and registration of the inviting person, his income statement. For a business trip, provide the original invitation and a statement from the host party to undertake obligations for your stay in Austria, an extract from the trade register.
