A guest visa is a visa for which a resident of the country sends you an invitation issued in accordance with all the rules. This way of obtaining a visa to France is a fairly simple matter: by invitation, the chance of getting a refusal tends to zero. In addition to the invitation, you need to attach other documents.

Step 1
Even if you are traveling by invitation, an ordinary visa of category C, that is, a short-term entry visa, is still glued into your passport. According to official information, the purpose of visiting the country on such a visa may be tourism, private or short-term business travel, but not work.
Step 2
For a private visit, you must attach an invitation from the French side, which is called Attestation d'accueil. It is required to demonstrate the original document by making a photocopy as well. The invitation is drawn up in accordance with the requirements of the consular department. In different cases, these requirements may differ slightly, so it is recommended to clarify the exact form in a specific place, in order to avoid possible difficulties. You can also download it on the website of the French Consulate (the requirements in a specific visa center still need to be clarified).
Step 3
The invitation is drawn up by a private person, but you need to use the official wording. Write an invitation by hand. If the host is your closest relative, a Russian citizen, the invitation is not certified. If the inviting person is a French citizen, then the document must be certified by the city hall.
Step 4
In addition to the invitation, you must attach a copy of the identity card of the inviting person. He must reside in the country legally, and an identity card must prove this. For EU citizens, this is usually a passport or ID card, and for foreign citizens - a French residence permit.
Step 5
If you intend to visit your next of kin who are Russian citizens and legally reside in France for at least three months, then you need to attach a copy of this person's visa or residence permit. In this case, the invitation does not need to be certified by the mayor's office.
Step 6
You should also show the originals of documents (having made copies of them in advance, they will fit your case), confirming the relationship with the inviting person, if this is your relative. This can be a birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce certificate, change of surname, or other paper.
Step 7
All documents, including the invitation, must be submitted in their original form. After reviewing the papers, the consular officer will verify their authenticity. You will also need photocopies, which will be attached to the case.
Step 8
Do not forget all other documents for a visa: a foreign passport, an application form, 2 color photographs measuring 3, 5 x 4, 5 cm, a certificate from the place of work, a bank statement, a health insurance policy and tickets in both directions.
