Hiking is considered a type of sports tourism, which involves a group of people walking a certain route. But there are also solo hikers who need to take a break from the constant hustle and bustle of the iron jungle rather than follow a specific route.
Solo tourism is a very dangerous pastime, but many people like it precisely because it happens alone. When a person is completely left to himself and his thoughts, at such moments the answers to exciting questions sometimes come.
And what are the difficulties of a solo hike?
- You cannot carry with you everything that the group can take, that is, not everyone can carry a lot of weight, which is why it is worth approaching the collection of the backpack with special responsibility.
- Remember that you have taken that and will use it. No one will be able to lend you something for a while if, for example, you are frozen or tore your jacket.
That is why we have compiled a list of things that are simply necessary for a person on a solo hike:
Backpack
You shouldn't waste your time on it, which means that you need to visit a specialized store, where the seller can help you in choosing a backpack for tourism that will suit you in height and weight (the weight that a backpack can carry is also very important).
do not take too much, otherwise you will get tired already half way, and this will not contribute to outdoor recreation.
Tent
Remember that you are hiking alone, which means that your tent should be lightweight and compact enough to comfortably reach your destination. So when choosing, pay attention to how much the tent weighs and what quality it is. Do not be greedy, it is better to overpay than to freeze or get wet.
Sleeping bag and cushion
If you go camping in the summer, there will be enough lightweight materials that keep you warm. But if your trip takes place in the fall or, even more so, in the winter, then be sure to pay attention to the winter sleeping bag and get ready for the fact that it will be heavier than the summer one.
Dishes
Here you need to remember that you do not need a cleaver, a lot of pots and a heavy frying pan. Pay attention to the dinnerware sets for tourists, they are compact, lightweight and you will enjoy cooking in them. Don't forget the spoon, knife and mug too. They can be included or separately. Remember that it is also better to take a light and iron mug. For water, you can use a silicone bottle that folds up and stows away in a small pocket.
What to cook on
You can, of course, organize a fire for yourself, but remember that the dishes will get smoked at your place, so maybe a gas burner will suit you for cooking? You can also fold the fire, but in order to warm up and dry clothes, if necessary.
Food
Of course, the best option would be to take with you several cans of canned food with porridge and stew, and in order to cook yourself, you can take dry vegetables, stew and cook a wonderful hearty soup. Dried fruits, nuts, and energy bars are great for snacks on the hike.
Navigation
What you must take: a compass, a map of the area, a push-button telephone, which will be used by you only for urgent calls. GPS for tourists is also a very convenient thing, but do not forget to use batteries for it and set it up correctly.
Do not forget to learn how to use all this and navigate the forest.
A wrist watch also does not hurt, since a smartphone can sit down in any situation. By the way, instead of a camera, you can take your smartphone and a push-button dialer. And for recharging, you can use the power bank.
clothing
It must be taken to a minimum so as not to carry all this weight on yourself. It is important to take a sweater or sweater, as well as woolen socks. By the way, if you have a raincoat in your backpack, it will also not be bad, and one day you will need it, and it will be at hand.
First aid kit
This is one of the most important things that every tourist needs to take. It is also necessary to collect it as much as possible, based on your diseases, allergies and the fact that you go to the forest. You need to be able to provide first aid correctly. Review the required materials.
Rest
- Documents - pack them in a waterproof bag.
- Flashlight and batteries for it. Try to choose a lantern that shines for a short distance so as not to attract too much attention not only from people, but also from animals.
- We collect the box: be sure to take electrical tape, scotch tape, a needle, threads (best of all nylon), small scissors, silicone glue and glue moment, a skein of scourge or other strong thick thread.
- A rope, it will be enough to take 10 meters, it will help you to descend safely.
That's the whole list, but it is very important to understand that everything is individual and depends on the season.
