During the Soviet era, Gagra bore the proud title of an all-Union health resort, which, however, was not so easy for mere mortals to get to. Today, this Abkhazian city is gradually returning to normal life after the republic's war for independence and long years of international isolation. The beautiful Gagra is again ready to receive vacationers from Russia.
It is necessary
- - foreign or general Russian passport;
- - cash.
Instructions
Step 1
Gagra is located 25 km from the Russian-Abkhaz border and you can get to this wonderful city by water, road or rail, but first you should get to Sochi. Moscow-Adler trains run in Sochi, planes fly to Adler airport from Moscow, St. Petersburg, and in the summer from many other Russian cities.
Step 2
A pleasure catamaran runs from the Sochi sea station to Gagra in the mornings throughout the year, the only thing that can cancel the trip is a storm, but they do not happen very often. During the holiday season, the catamaran makes several trips. Passport control can be entered directly on board.
Step 3
In the mornings, at 7:30 daily, the Adler-Sukhum train leaves from the Adler railway station. On it you will get to Gagra in 2.5 hours, you do not need to go out for passport control - Russian and Abkhaz border guards check passports right in the carriages.
Step 4
If you arrived in Sochi by bus, do not rush to leave the city bus station towards the Abkhaz border and checkpoint. It will be easier to wait for the transit flight to Sukhum, buy a ticket for this bus to Gagra and ride it. At the border, passengers leave the bus and go to the building of the checkpoint, where the check procedure takes place quite quickly and without delay - 20-30 minutes. You will get to the Gagra bus station in half an hour - from the Abkhaz side, the traffic on the highway is not intensive and there are no traffic jams, unlike Sochi.
Step 5
If you are driving your own car, upon entering the territory of the checkpoint, all passengers must get out of the car and proceed to the passport control area. The driver is checked along with the car, after which he waits for his passengers on the Abkhaz side. In half an hour you will be able to admire the magnificent architecture of Gagra, reminiscent of the colonial style.
