Plaza de Armas

Of the historical buildings, only a bronze fountain has survived to this day.

Archbishop's Palace
The architectural structure is located in the Plaza de Armas. The construction of the magnificent building began in 1535, however, it has not survived to our times. The building was restored and the opening of the palace took place in 1924. At the moment, the palace has become the residence of Archbishop Luis Kypriyani. The building combines Gothic and Baroque elements. The facade of the architectural work is made of solid stone and framed by elements of cedar. The marble staircase leading to the second floor amazes with its beauty, and the French stained-glass windows along the entire perimeter of the building. The main relic kept by the archbishop's palace is the skull of St. Toribio de Mogrovejo.
Cathedral
The cathedral is striking in its size and grandeur. The building has three naves and 13 chapels. The architecture of the temple is made in the neoclassical style. The temple houses the remains of Francisco Pissaro, who is the founder of the capital of Peru.
