It was built by the French back in 1950, it housed more than 40 thousand criminals, many of them returned home after the expulsion of the French. But the worst things happened here during the war with the United States, when the Americans set up a concentration camp in Coconut Prison, in which they tortured and killed thousands of people. Now there is a museum on the territory of the prison, where everything reminds of that terrible time in the life of the country and the inhabitants of Vietnam. Here you will see barracks in which prisoners were kept, instruments of torture, photographs showing horrific atrocities. This place is not recommended for visiting with children and very impressionable people, but it will appeal to those who are interested in the history of Vietnam and the events of those years.
Pearl Farms
There are now two large sea pearl farms on the island, both located on the west coast. When you visit the farm, you will learn how sea pearls are cultivated, and you will see everything with your own eyes. Here you can also purchase the product you like. Black pepper plantations
Black pepper plantations are located throughout Phu Quoc Island, where special aromatic and spicy varieties grow here, which are appreciated all over the world. On large plantations, up to 400 tons of crops are harvested per year, and all the fruits are harvested by hand. The peas are harvested a little unripe, and then dried in the sun for 10 - 12 days.
