On July 24, 2012, the head of the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation, Alexander Vasilyevich Radkov, and the Minister of Tourism of Mexico, Gloria Guevara Manso, signed a bilateral agreement on the joint development of tourism in both countries. The main goal was to increase the number of tourists and, accordingly, the development of the related business.
To interest the Mexicans, Alexander Vasilyevich Radkov decided to develop all types of tourism available in Russia. Gloria Guevara Manso set a similar task in relation to the residents of the Russian Federation: according to the statistics he received, about 30 thousand Russians visit Mexico annually, but the Minister of Tourism intends to increase this figure by at least three times in the next couple of years.
Among the joint Russian-Mexican plans for the development of tourism, an important place is occupied by the strengthening of air transport links. The fact is that earlier it was possible to fly from Russia to Mexico only on Aeroflot and Transaero planes, but it was decided to attract other airlines, convincing them to open new flights, thanks to which residents of the capital and other cities will be able to fly to Mexico.
Also, one of the stages of the joint development of tourism should be the acquaintance of Russians with the culture of Mexico and vice versa. People should be interested in special exotic traditions, tell them about wonderful sights and make them want to visit a foreign country and see everything with their own eyes. According to Gloria Guevara Manso, this will not be difficult. In particular, it is known that the interest of Mexicans in Russia is constantly growing, which contributes to the development of tourism.
A very important point was the simplification of the visa regime. Unfortunately, the paperwork required to visit another country is sometimes delayed so much that tourists lose the desire to bother to obtain visas, and they prefer places where they can go without bureaucratic delays. Due to the fact that it became possible to process documents via the Internet and obtain a visa within 24 hours, the number of Russian tourists visiting Mexico has increased dramatically. In the future, it is planned to further simplify the process.
