Fiji is a group of more than 300 islands located in the Pacific Ocean. Fiji attracts with exotic, picturesque nature, reservoirs with crystal-clear water, lagoons, shimmering in all shades of blue, as well as evergreen forests. To all this can be added the excellent service and the cheerful and welcoming islanders who gladly receive guests.
The largest island of the group is Viti Levu, located in the west of the archipelago. The largest cities, as well as the country's air gates, are located on this island.
The largest city on the island of Vanua Levu is Labasa. This city is surrounded by endless sugarcane plantations, which are used by almost all of the locals. Labasa is not rich in attractions, but boasts the neighboring island of Nukubati with white coral sand beaches. The resort area of Nukubati was built in a colonial style. In addition to beaches, the island's attractions include black volcanic formations.
Fiji's third largest city is Nandi. This city is not the best in terms of tourism, but it serves as a well-located travel point both around the island of Viti Levu and to the Coral Cost resorts and the Mamanuca island group. The sights of the city include the Temple of the Southern Hemisphere - a Hindu temple built in the form of a colored pyramid, towering 30 meters. Also in the city there is a magnificent Nadi Bay beach. If you go outside Nadi, you can get to Natadola Beach, which is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Fiji.
To the east of Nandi lies the Nusori highlands with villages famous for traditional Fijian-style houses. People come to this part of the archipelago to get an indescribable feeling from the breathtaking landscapes, as well as to get acquainted with the distinctive settlements of Fiji.
The former capital of Fiji is the city of Levuka. It is located on the island of Ovalau. The founding of Levuka dates back to the 18th century; it was here that the first permanent settlements of Europeans appeared. The city flourished until the 19th century, but could no longer expand, and it was decided to move the capital to the city of Suva. Levuka is the perfect example of colonial architecture.
The second largest island in Fiji is Vanua Levu. Despite the fact that the island is the most popular among the guests of the archipelago, it has retained its identity and ancient traditions. Here are preserved not only places where no man's foot has ever set foot, coral reefs and wildlife, but also the original Fijian tribes.
The most attractive holiday option in Fiji is considered to be a vacation on the small and secluded islets belonging to the Lau group, as well as on the miniature islands of the southern part of the archipelago. The most popular is the Mamanuca group, consisting of only 13 islands. Due to their miniature size, the islands offer a secluded getaway in the background of nature, but at the same time they are the best resort area in Fiji. Lagoons, coral reefs, rich underwater life and the opportunity to feel like Robinson Crusoe in the comfortable conditions of fashionable hotels attract both lovers of simply soaking up the sun and fans of active sports.
