The main document proving the identity of a citizen of the Russian Federation outside its borders is a foreign passport. Currently, citizens of the Russian Federation use foreign passports for a period of 5 and 10 years.
If the passport expires, then a number of countries may not allow entry into their territory. Most countries can refuse a visa if the passport expires three months after the end of the visa or six months after the end of the trip.
Currently, all citizens of the Russian Federation can apply for a new passport for a period of 10 years.
If the validity of the passport expires, then when planning a trip, you need to take into account the timing of issuing a new passport. The deadline for its registration is one month from the time the application was submitted to the ROVD. In practice, this period can vary from two weeks to three months.
If the passport expires in extreme situations - serious illness, emergency treatment, death of a close relative, if there are supporting documents, the period for issuing a passport is three days. In this case, an application for the issuance of a passport can be submitted at the place of residence of a citizen of the Russian Federation.
If the passport expires, then when you receive a new one, it is better to keep the old one by canceling it. You can also simply photocopy all previously received visas. These documents will simplify the procedure for obtaining them in the future.
If your previous passport was empty, you still need to make a photocopy of the main page. So that in the future, you can provide the visa centers with information about your old passport.
If the validity of the foreign passport expires, then the procedure for renewing the already existing foreign passport of a new sample does not exist as such. It only provides for the receipt of a new document.
