Step 1
Get your passport if you haven't done so before. In Russia, documents must be submitted to the district department of the FMS. It takes a month to prepare a document. If you are already in China and your passport expires in less than six months, you will need to get a new one. The Russian consulate will take care of its registration.
Step 2
Get a visa to legally enter the country if you are still in Russia. Its type depends on why you are traveling to China. There are special visas for study purposes, for work in China, for family members of Chinese citizens, for owners of real estate located in the country. Such entry documents are issued for a year with the right to renew. To obtain a visa, contact the consular section of the Chinese Embassy in Moscow, which is located at 6 Druzhba Street. You will need to document the purpose of your trip.
Step 3
Live in China, renewing your visa, for two years. You will then be eligible to apply for a residence permit. Also, you must have grounds for completing this document. You must have a working contract with a Chinese firm, a business in full or partial ownership, family ties with a Chinese citizen, or real estate worth at least three hundred thousand yuan.
Step 4
Contact the local internal affairs bodies. Ask them for a list of documents for obtaining a residence permit, depending on your personal or professional situation.
Step 5
Submit your documents for review. If the issue is positive, you will be given a residence permit for a period of three to five years, depending on the decision of the authorities. After the end of the validity period of the first temporary residence permit, you will be able to apply for a permanent one, which will give you almost the same opportunities as citizens, except for the right to vote in elections.
