Saransk is the capital of the Republic of Mordovia, founded in 1641. The city is located on the banks of the Insar River. You can get to Saransk by train, plane, bus or car.

Step 1
Planes fly to Saransk from three Russian cities - Moscow, Samara and Saratov. The flights are operated by Mordovia Airlines. Airplanes fly every day, travel time to Saransk is about an hour. You can order tickets on the airline's website, or buy them at the airport ticket offices.
Step 2
From Moscow to Saransk there is a branded train "Mordovia". It departs from Kazansky railway station daily at 21:24. On the way, the train makes stops at the stations of the Republic of Mordovia - Zubovaya Polyana, Potma, Torbeev, Kovylkina, Kadoshkin and Ruzayevka. The train includes reserved seat cars, compartments, suites, as well as a restaurant car. On the way - about twelve hours.
Step 3
You can also get to Saransk through the Pervomaisk-Gorkovsky station. Train # 80 goes there. It departs from the Kazansky railway station at 20-48, every day. Arrival at the terminal station - around seven in the morning. Minibuses go from Pervomaisk to Saransk through the village of Elniki. Travel time is about three hours.
Step 4
Buses run from the Central Moscow bus station in Shchelkovo to Saransk. Departure daily at 07-45. Approximate travel time is twelve hours excluding Moscow traffic jams. By car from Moscow to Saransk, it is most convenient to go along the Nosovikhinskoye highway, which turns into the Nizhny Novgorod highway. The road was recently repaired, expanding up to eight lanes in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Difficulties may arise only after Arzamas, there is a two-lane track and has not been repaired for a long time. You can get to Saransk along the Yegoryevskoe highway, but it is narrower and there are often traffic jams in the area of the city of Bronnitsy.
