Goa is the most non-Indian state in India. Every year more and more people go there for the winter. In Goa, there are no problems with long-term rental housing, but still there are several important nuances that should be considered when choosing an apartment.
Instructions
Step 1
You can rent an apartment or house in Goa through a real estate agency or directly from the landlord. In the first case, you can just come to the agency, express your wishes and wait until you are offered options. It costs more, but much less worries.
Step 2
In the second case, you must first find a suitable house or apartment. If you have just arrived in Goa, you can check into a hotel, rent a bike or scooter and ride around the town of your choice. Pay attention to the signs that say House for rent or Apartment for rent. Most often, these signs indicate a phone number by which you can contact the homeowner.
Step 3
Having picked up several options for potential housing, start calling the owners. At this stage, you need to make sure that the apartment or house meets an acceptable level of safety and comfort.
Step 4
Be sure to ask by phone before you go to inspect the apartment or house whether there is a water heater, autonomous power supply, air conditioner, fully furnished, refrigerator, gas cylinder, washing machine (or laundry nearby).
Step 5
It is worth considering that in Goa there is no central water supply and, of course, heating. Houses and apartments contain only cold water, which can be heated from electric and other heaters. Electricity goes out quite often in Goa, so a good house or apartment should have its own generator. Ask the owner in as much detail as possible about what is not in the house. If he promises to do something later, don't count on it too much. Usually, after prepayment, these promises are not fulfilled. Keep in mind that apartments are usually rented out with little or no utensils.
Step 6
Having gone to inspect an apartment or house, pay the owner's attention to all breakdowns, scuffs and roughness, so that later when leaving the house there will be no problems.
Step 7
It is advisable to choose an apartment with bars on the windows, this can save you from petty thieves. In some areas of Goa, equipment disappears from the premises quite often.
Step 8
Having chosen an apartment, finally discuss the price with the owner. If you know how to bargain, you have every chance of reducing the rental price by ten to fifteen percent.
Step 9
After you have decided on the price, make an advance payment. It doesn't have to be big. Such an advance payment simply indicates the seriousness of intentions. At the same stage, you need to draw up a written agreement in free form, be sure to write down all the important conditions in it.
