Yelets is one of the administrative centers of the Lipetsk region. The first mention of him is found in the annals of 1146. In 2007, the settlement received the title of "City of Military Glory".

Step 1
The easiest way to get to Yelets is with your own car. Two major highways pass through this settlement at once: M4 (“Don”) “Moscow-Novorossiysk”, which runs through Voronezh, Rostov and Krasnodar, as well as via the P119 highway, which connects Tambov and Orel. The distance between Moscow and Yelets is 387 kilometers, it can be covered by car in 4-5 hours.
Step 2
Yelets has its own railway station, through which about thirty pairs of long-distance trains and a dozen electric trains pass. All of them can also be used to get to Yelets. This settlement has direct communication with Moscow, St. Petersburg, Lugansk, Lipetsk, Kislovodsk, Saratov, Volgograd, Adler and other cities.
Step 3
On average, the travel time from Moscow to Yelets by train is eight to nine hours. Also, international trains from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Saratov and Tambov to Brest, Baku, Lugansk, Gomel, Tashkent, Simferopol pass through this station. Yelets can also be reached by commuter trains from Stary Oskol, Orel and Lipetsk.
Step 4
There are two bus stations in Yelets, both of which serve only transit bus traffic. Thus, the first bus station serves bus routes from Moscow to Volgodonsk, Svetlograd, Salsk, Stavropol, Nalchik, Cherkessk and Olkhovatka. The second one accepts routes from Voronezh to Moscow, Kaluga, Orel, Efremov, Novomoskovsk, Tula; from Lipetsk to Moscow and Orel, as well as the route "Moscow - Livny".
Step 5
There is no air and river communication in Yelets, however, a traveler who is going to this settlement can easily do without them.
