The history of the construction of the Maryino estate

The estate building came under the control of Prince Ivan Baryatinsky in 1810. A few years later, the prince decided to rebuild some of the premises and rebuild a new central building, in which the entire Baryatinsky family was supposed to live. The project of the new building was developed by K. I. Hoffmann. The central building was located on the bend of the Izbitsa River and was originally called the Izbitsa estate, later the name Maryino appeared, which has survived to this day.
The architect designed not only the manor building, but also a huge park around it. A pond was created on the river, called the Bolshoi Maryinsky Pond. This estate has become a monument of history and culture of the Kursk region. Many tourists are eager to visit this attraction.
Description of the Maryino estate
The estate, which was passed to Prince Baryatinsky, consisted of several premises: a dwelling house, house buildings, churches and a stud farm. The facade of the palace is decorated with colonnaded porticoes, which give the building a majestic look. Many objects of painting and sculpture have been preserved inside. A huge park was created around the prince's palace, on the territory of which a large pond was dug and a bathhouse was installed. On a small island in the center of the pond, Prince Baryatinsky built a Catholic church for his wife, which has survived to this day. A small flotilla was created by order of the prince for walks along the pond and the river Izbitsa. The prince and princess Baryatinsky loved to spend time making morning and evening river walks.
The interior decoration of the premises is striking in luxury and splendor. The ceilings of the old manor house are decorated with stucco, marble, paintings.
