The city of Yakutsk can be reached in four ways - by plane, by car, by water transport and by a combined method (railway and motor transport). It is still impossible to reach it by rail. The railway station, located on the opposite bank of the Lena River in the village of Verkhniy Bestyakh, is still under construction and passenger traffic is not open.

The first way is by plane. The city has a large international airport; flights from many major cities of the country fly here. Earlier, the plane was the most expensive way to get to the city, but recently the cost of air tickets has dropped sharply and you can buy a ticket for adequate money (10-11 thousand rubles).

The second way is by car. The federal road M56 "Lena" leads to the city. Almost throughout its entire length, it is unpaved, with the exception of cities. Calculate the distance between gas stations. On this route, they are found only in large settlements. Look in advance in the atlas of highways where they are located. There is no bridge across the Lena River in the Yakutsk region - cars are transported by ferry in the summer, and in winter they cross the river on an ice crossing.

There is a period of off-season when the ferry is closed. Usually it is impossible to cross the river on an ice crossing from mid-April, and the first ferry starts operating at the end of May. With the icebreaker, the ferry crossing can be extended until October, but it is difficult to get on it. The ice crossing officially opens at the end of December, but the first desperate drivers are already crossing in November.

The third way to get to Yakutsk is by water transport. This is the most inconvenient way to get to the city from the central regions.

Transport links along the river are irregular. It makes sense only if you get to Yakutia from the Irkutsk region.

The fourth way is by rail and road transport. Trains from Moscow and Khabarovsk run regularly to South Yakutia. It is most convenient to get by train to the stations Neryungri, Aldan or Berkakit, and then from there get to Yakutsk by fixed-route taxis running between these cities and Yakutsk. Get ready for a tiring road. It is hot and dusty on this track in summer and cold in winter.
