Initially, this city was built by the ruler of the Incas as a shelter. Until now, the city has not revealed all its secrets and mysteries. For three centuries, Machu Picchu "hid" from everyone, no one could even imagine that he had a place to be. Enemies in the 16th century diligently searched for this city, but, having seized all the lands of Peru, they did not find the fortress in which the Incas took refuge.
A strange city was erected on the top of the highest mountain, surrounded by impassable forests and tall rock-pins. Since the townspeople discovered two purest springs near the top, which supplied them with water and food, this mountain was undoubtedly considered sacred. And only Indian paths connected with the outside world, and only a few knew these paths.

Also, one of the mysteries of the Incas is their tradition - to build a city in the form of a creature. Machu Picchu looks like a condor from a height. It is assumed that these Incas showed themselves to deities, the main of which was the sun god Inti! He was worshiped by the Incas.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Indians-farmers began to develop Peru. Having found the "Lost City", the Indians reported to the expedition of archaeologists. The diggers were overly surprised by the find. The blocks that were in the masonry of the buildings weighed about fifty tons, the layout of the buildings was clear, the stone structures had the necessary shape and shocked with their beauty. The blocks of stone were assembled like a mosaic, tightly fitted to each other. All this gave the city strength, durability and stability.
