Alaska, which was once Russian land, is now the largest and northernmost American state. The Northwest Territory is bordered by Canada and Russia. The harsh climate of Alaska, as well as the absence of large industry and financial centers there, influenced the population density in this state. It is lower than in most other areas of the United States. However, the beauty of nature, a calm measured life, its own inherent flavor attract tourists who want to experience extreme sensations and see an unusual America.
