A trip in the company of a couple of dozen fellow countrymen and a dense excursion program will not please every traveler. If you prefer to explore new countries alone or want to visit a place you already know where you can find your way without a guide, organize the trip yourself.
Search for accommodation
After choosing the country and city where you want to go, look for a place to live. Thanks to the Internet, after spending one or two hours, you can familiarize yourself with several dozen hotels, inns and hostels located in the resort, find out the cost of living and evaluate the interior, as well as read the reviews of visitors. Choosing a cozy temporary home for yourself, book a room for the dates you need or immediately redeem it for the entire period.
The hotel is not the only option. You can, having arrived at the place, rent an apartment or a room from a local resident. If you are not heading to a large city, but hope to relax in nature, are not afraid of mosquitoes and life outside of civilization, take a tent with you. And lovers of new acquaintances can register shortly before the trip on one of the sites where travelers from different countries offer to stay at their home for free.
Buying tickets
Unless you intend to travel by your own car, you need to buy train or plane tickets. The sooner you get busy with transport, the more chances you have of getting an inexpensive air ticket. Of course, there is a chance to buy a ticket for a small amount right before departure, but it is hardly worth risking your vacation.
If you want to save money, pay attention to forums and sites where travelers are looking for fellow travelers who are ready to share travel costs with them. Finding people heading to the same country as you and having extra space in their car can save you a lot.
Visa
You will need a visa to enter and stay in a number of countries. The requirements for obtaining it may differ from state to state, and it is better to check them on the embassy's website. Most likely, you will need to present your passport, confirmation of payment for the hotel room where you plan to stay, tickets, certificate of employment, bank statement, photo and completed application form.
Excursion program
In order not to spend part of your vacation flipping through guidebooks or browsing sites on the Internet, make up an excursion program in advance. Read about the country where you are going, select the places that you definitely want to visit, mark them on the map. You can also find out in advance information about the best beaches, cafes, shops and clubs so as not to get lost in an unfamiliar place. If necessary, purchase a phrasebook so that you have at least some opportunity to communicate with the local population. You are now ready to ride.
