Milan is an old city, but despite this, its architecture is largely represented by modern buildings. At first glance, it may even seem that this is a faceless industrial metropolis. But in the center of Milan there is a huge variety of historical sights and ancient buildings, and in general, the city has its own face. It will take at least a few days to understand and get a good look at Milan.
The best place to start exploring Milan is Piazza Duomo. Already on it you will meet several interesting sights. This is the gallery of Vittorio Emmanuel, and the sculpture depicting him, and the most beautiful Cathedral of the XIV-XVII centuries, made in the Gothic style. This is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Europe, on the terraces of which there is an excellent observation deck.

Many buildings represent important milestones in the development of architectural styles.
The Church of St. Mary has preserved the "Last Supper" - the world famous fresco by Leonardo da Vinci. The building itself was built in the 15th century by the architect Bramante, who designed a dome that was simply huge for those times. On holidays and weekends, this place is very popular among tourists, so it is better to book tickets in advance.
One of the most visited cities for tourists, Milan is also the Italian capital of fashion. Guests from all over Europe come here during the season to update their wardrobe with clothes from the best collections. The place where it is customary to arrange meetings is the Vittorio Emmanuel Gallery, located in Piazza Duomo. A walk down a covered corridor takes you directly to La Scala Opera House, renowned for being the best acoustic venue in the world. There is a beautiful old square near the theater, in the center of which there is a sculpture by Leonardo da Vinci.
It is impossible not to mention one of the most famous art museums in the world - the Brera Art Gallery. The largest collection of works by Italian artists is collected here, painters from other countries are equally widely represented. Many paintings appeared in the gallery during the time of Napoleon, when they were taken from churches and monasteries. In the Brera Gallery, you can see paintings by Raphael, Rembrandt, Van Dyck, El Greco and Goya.
