Hungary was admitted to the European Union in 2004, and three years later became one of the countries participating in the Schengen Agreement. Therefore, since 2007, the availability of a Schengen visa for visiting Hungary is a prerequisite. The Hungarian consulate has always been particularly loyal; visas were issued without any difficulty. But over the past two years, the percentage of refusals in Hungarian visas has increased - according to experienced travelers who have been traveling to Hungary for several years, precisely because of incorrectly executed documents.

Necessary

  • - international passport;
  • - a copy of the pages of the Russian passport;
  • - 2 color photographs;
  • - medical insurance;
  • - a completed visa application form;
  • - certificate from the place of work or bank statement;
  • - payment of the visa fee at the embassy;
  • - printed hotel reservations, air tickets or confirmation of payment for the voucher, if it was purchased from a travel agency.

Instructions

Step 1

The package of documents that must be submitted to the Hungarian Embassy is standard for all Schengen countries. First of all, the applicant must provide a foreign passport with an acceptable period of validity. It is at least 3 months after the date of departure from the Schengen area. In addition, two blank pages must remain in the passport, in which there is not a single mark, and the document itself must be issued within the last 10 years. Together with the passport, two color photographs are handed over (and not ten years ago, but taken in the last six months), a completed application form (must be signed), medical insurance for the entire period of stay in Hungary (or in the Schengen zone, if after Hungary it is planned to visit another European state), a photocopy of the Russian passport. In addition to this list of documents, the embassy must be provided with information on the material security of the tourist. Such confirmation can be a certificate of employment with proof of income or a bank statement on transactions for the last three months or a certificate of the amount of pension. For tourists, it is necessary to provide printed confirmation of hotel booking, air or train tickets, confirmation of payment for the voucher, if the traveler chose to use the services of a travel agency.

Step 2

After the entire package of documents has been collected, on the website of the Hungarian Embassy, you must sign up for an online interview and choose a convenient day for this. On the appointed day, you must submit all documents to the consulate, pay on the spot the fee, which is 35 euros, and wait for the passport to be returned.

Step 3

The percentage of refusals in the Hungarian consulate is really very low, but for this it is extremely important, firstly, to fill out all the documents correctly, and, secondly, to behave correctly at the interview and answer all questions as logically as possible. For example, if a tourist asks for a visa for six months, the staff of the Hungarian consulate will, of course, ask for what purpose he needs it. And an abstract answer like “I would like to fly to France and Spain in a month” will be treated extremely negatively here. Therefore, if you are applying for a long-term visa, it is better to explain that you are still planning a trip to Hungary, but find it difficult to name their exact dates now.

Step 4

And one more important detail: if in Hungary, for example, it is planned to spend 3 days, and in neighboring Austria - 6 days, but Hungary will be the country of entry, it is likely that the traveler can be sent directly from the Hungarian consulate to the Austrian one.
