The village was bought in 1893 by the Tenishev princes, and the estate received its glory thanks to Maria Tenisheva, the mistress. She was an educator who did not spare her efforts and time in order to create from the estate a great economy, an educational institution and workshops for applied arts. Also, thanks to her efforts, workshops appeared in which such famous figures as Korovin, Repin and many worked. In terms of its significance for art and culture, the village can be compared with Abramtsevo (a village in the Moscow region).

Contemporaries rightfully call the village "Russian Athens", and Maria herself - the main Pericles of the peasants in Russia. However, like many other undertakings of the 20th century related to culture and educational activities, they were destroyed along with the arrival of the revolution.

What to watch

The main attractions are located in the village of Flenovo, which is part of the village of Talashkino. The Tenishevs received this village (and then - a farm) in 1894. As a result, an agricultural school appeared, built and opened by the same Maria Tenisheva.

Now the museum complex consists of four objects - the Manor, the building of the former school, the Temple and the colorful House-Teremok. At the same time, Teremok was designed by Sergei Malyutin himself in the style of Russian Art Nouveau.

And to the right of this landmark is, as if emerging from the fairy tales of peoples, the Church of the Holy Spirit, which was also designed by Sergei Malyutin. The building is notable for its unusual shape, but the most surprising is its mosaic created by the masters.

However, after the coup, the church was plundered, and the grave itself was desecrated. Later, the church was rebuilt into a vegetable store. Now a cross has been erected near the temple in memory of Mary.
