It is generally accepted that people, as a rule, travel from Belarus to Russia in order to earn more money. Not everyone is aware that there is also a reverse wave of emigration: Russians are moving to Belarus. Their reasons for this decision are very different. To understand why the inhabitants of Russia do this, it is useful to get acquainted with their feedback on living in the republic.
Life in Belarus: what are the advantages
All those who moved practically unanimously claim that they like peace and order in Belarus. People are not afraid to return home even late in the evening, while in Russia at this time they would not dare to go home alone.
As an advantage, many cite the absence of emigrants from the countries of Central Asia. Local people trade in the markets, and not at all from the countries of the Caucasus region.
Of course, Belarusian prices are a very significant reason for joy. Despite strong inflation and a very low exchange rate of Belarusian rubles in relation to Russian, food and clothing are, in general, much cheaper here than in Moscow. Also, payments for housing and communal services, the cost of travel in transport and much more are cheaper.
It is very convenient that you do not need to learn the language of a new country. In Belarus itself, everyone speaks Russian, although the Belarusian language is the official one. This can be remembered when making a trip in public transport, where stops in the “local dialect” will be announced, however, even those who have never heard the Belarusian language will find it easy to make out the meaning.
Belarusian streets are much cleaner than Russian ones. Perhaps the locals tend to litter less, or maybe the reason is that the janitors clean them clean every morning? Many are also pleased with the absence of a large number of cars and pleasant green parks.
Disadvantages of moving to Belarus
To find out about the shortcomings, you can ask not only the Russians who have moved to the country, but also the Belarusians themselves working in Russia: these are very low salaries. It is not surprising that everything in the country is so cheap, because otherwise people would simply not have survived. Even qualified specialists in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, rarely receive salaries higher than $ 300.
There are also some goods that are more expensive in Belarus than in Russia. For example, these are certain types of drugs that are produced outside the country. Delicacy or imported products are also more expensive than in Russia. Belarus is relatively small, and some of its residents living near the borders even go shopping in neighboring Poland on purpose in order to return home with a trunk full of food. Here the citizens of Russia have some advantages, it is usually much easier for them to obtain a Schengen visa than for Belarusians.
Some companies that can be found all over the world are not represented in Belarus at all. For example, this is Ikea, so beloved by many Russians. If people want to buy Swedish furniture, they have to bring it from abroad.
